60 years of mixing fun with innovation

In 1954, Ida Grove Iowa local, Byron Godbersen, decided that hand-bombing grain from silos was too pain staking, dangerous and inefficent. After iteration after iteration, he eventually created the first functional “Bolster Lift”, a hydrolic system that was used to tilt large grain bins for easy and quick unloading. After the unexpectedly and fantastically successful product was lauched Bryson Godbersen eventually became the founder of Midwest Indsutries Inc, A company that whent on to create an entire line of farm equipment used across he midwest and Canada. Building off his first sucessful hydroic lift, Mr Godbersen took his innovation skills to the world of watercrafts, creating his first ever hydrolic boat lift in 1959. He engineered it to work smarter than other boat lifts, but, he also decided to go above and beyond – he over-built it. Heavier materials, stronger winches, better cables. Although at the timeit was seen as impractical, much like us here at Recreational Power Sports, Byron believed that weekends at the lake should be spent relaxing with the family, not fixing broken equipment. Eventually this idelogy caught on, and casued Byron to found Shorestation. His bost lift system became so popular that he pivoted his entire production to exclusvily build Shorestation boats lifts. Now, 60 years after his first hydrolic lift was developed, Shorestation has continued Byron Godbersens legacy by continuing to embody his mission to create long lasting, beautiful boat lifts, so that customers can spend more time enjoying the lake with confidence.

Winter months in Canada is usually accompanied with adjectives similar to “dark”,”gloomy”,”freezing” – all of which typically force people inside the comfort of their homes to wait out the winter freeze. However power sports enthusiasts, particularly Canadian power sports enthusiasts typically have a different take on winter. Thick blankets of in our wide open prairies and forested mountain passes turn into a playground for snowmobilers. Unfortunately… or fortunately, depending on who you ask, during the 2023-2024 winter season the powder days that we’re so accustomed to were few and far between due to unseasonably warm temperatures. While most snowmobiling fanatics can’t help but feel shortchanged, there is a silver lining – we get to break out the summer ATV kits early!

Argo began in Kitchener Ontario in 1962 as a subsidiary of a German transport company trying to tap into the North American market.
